WOMEN’S SOCCER 2010

Dear Player,

Welcome to another year of soccer!

Weston Creek Women’s Soccer is one of the largest clubs in the Capital Football Premiership competition and encourages players of all ages and abilities to come and give soccer a go.

In 2009, we fielded eight teams in the women’s competition including three Masters (Over 35s) teams.  Weston Creek proposes to nominate teams in the following Leagues in 2010:

Details of registration costs, training and the pre premiership and premiership seasons are provided in this letter.

Registration fees for 2010
Registration fees paid by players are a necessary cost to pay for Australian Football Federation and Capital Football fees, training ground hire fees, referee fees and administrative fees to operate the Weston Creek Soccer Club.

The fees for Weston Creek Women’s Soccer are heavily subsidised through our fundraising efforts including operating the canteen on Saturday mornings for the Weston Creek Junior Soccer.  Without this the cost per player would be close to $400 to cover registration, training, equipment and the Capital Football presentation dinner. The fees for 2010 have increased in line with the Capital Football increases however only ~ 50% increase is being passed on to players.  The fees this year are:

Weston Creek Soccer Club is introducing a family cap for registrations in 2010.  The family cap applies across the whole of the club.  For example, if you have an immediate family member playing in the juniors, and women’s and men’s leagues, there will be a maximum amount payable by that family unit.

There is a family cap for juniors (including rooball) only and a family cap for junior + senior players.  I’ll send out more information when I have it.

NOTE: Weston Creek socks ARE NOT included with the registration this year

Registration process

Commencing in 2009, all players were able to register online at www.myfootballclub.com.au.  From 2010 players will be able to register and pay (in full) with a credit card.

Families wishing to taker advantage of the family discount can register online but MUST pay manually as the MyFootballClub does not allow for family payments.

Factsheets on how to register are available on the MyFootballClub (MFC) website.  The MFC online registration system has been set up so that you will be offered registration options based on your age.

I encourage you to register online, so you can check and update your own records, and pay by credit card.  To register for Weston Creek Women’s Soccer, the following options will be available:

NB: Weston Creek will be charged for each player who plays in the pre season competition.

Manual registration will still be available for players who do not have access to the online system; all new players; or players experiencing difficulties.  Please contact me if you have any questions about the registration process.

Fundraising

Every player is expected to participate in our fundraising, as all players benefit from the fundraising efforts.  The Women will run the junior canteen at Waramanga on Saturdays, with each team having a maximum of three turns in the season. We also run a chocolate drive mid May where every player gets one box of chocolates to sell. Through this fundraising we are able to maintain our registration fees at a reasonable cost. The hire of our training fields alone costs ~$10,000 per season.  Players will face an additional fee of $50 if they do not participate in fundraising.  This can be paid at the time of registration.

Training

Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00pm – 8.30pm at Waramanga Ovals, off Badimara Street, Waramanga.  Premier League and State League 1 commenced training in January 2010 on field 7 (lower field near Primary school).

Training for all other leagues begins on Tuesday, 2 February 2010 and Thursday 4 February 2010 from 7:00pm – 8:30pm on Field 1 (main field in front of carpark).  If parking is an issue, it is recommended you use the High School carpark. All new players are welcome!

Once lights are required we will reallocate fields for training across the teams.

Premier League is coached by Robbie Mason.  The Reserve Grade 1 coach is Andy Munoz.  The Under 18 Premier League Club coach is Dave Garrity. All players are welcome to try out for these teams, but attendance at the majority of training sessions is required in order to be assessed.

For the other leagues, sessions are run by a couple of coaches (Geoff Neideck, SL2; Leo O’Keeffe, SL3; Donna O’Brien, Masters) and from these sessions, players will be placed in teams of appropriate ability. Friendship groups will be considered.  As teams are formed some of the lower league grade teams will train once a week.  Details of team selection dates will be advised prior to the grading/selection nights

We have coaches for most of our teams but need a couple more and if we have a second Under 18 team. If you know someone who would like to get fit and have a lot of fun (hopefully) please ask them to contact me or bring them along to training.
